I have always wanted my own horse - as long as I can remember. So imagine my surprise when I got my first horse for my 50th birthday!
My daughter and my son-in-law took me to Sporthorse Arena where I take lessons every week. Much to my surprise, they blindfolded me and led me to one of the stalls. I took off the blindfold, and there was a stall decorated with a Happy Birthday banner and balloons. I thought, this is a joke, right. But then my son-in-law began videotaping me, and as soon as he began to say in his narration, "This is Juli's first horse", I lost it! Tears flowed, and I went into the stall and hugged "Onlyifyouloveme", a retired off the track thoroughbred with two wins whom we call "Jackson", the name the people who rescued him named him. Check out this link and read about his sad story.
